pallet jacks

Whether you work in a cold room, a clean room, or a highly corrosive environment, you will need the right tools to do the job and they need to be in perfect working condition, no matter the environment.

Our corrosion resistant pallet jacks are perfect for use in coolers or freezers where the temperature gets very cold. They also make the perfect defense for applications where they will be exposed to corrosive environments, for example where wash down of the pallet jack is commonly required.

Our ECO I-55 Galvanized and ECO I-55 Stainless model pallet jacks can shield you from the inherent dangers of working in these environments. They are built strong, durable, and easy to clean, to ensure that they will last for years to come.

If you keep reading, you will learn more about cold corrosion, and how you can avoid the inevitable breakdown of your equipment using our corrosion resistant pallet jacks.

Some Facts About Cold Corrosion

Cold corrosion is an electrochemical reaction that occurs when a metallic surface of a certain temperature is exposed to a corrosive gas mixture that is a higher temperature.

Cold corrosion is most common in automobile and ship engines, but it also occurs in everything from bridges to public buildings, commercial applications to HAZMAT storage facilities, and even homes.

According to this study conducted between 1999 to 2001 by NACE, an international organization poised to advocate corrosion awareness and action, the estimated direct cost of corrosion damage in the US alone was a staggering 3.1% of the nations gross domestic product. (GDP)

That is, corrosion damage is costing our industries $276 billion dollars in damages per year, and that’s in the midst of us getting better and better at preventing it.

The chart provided by NACE in this study break down the infrastructure of the costs associated with these damages and the results are unnerving, to say the least.

Yearly Corrosion Damages Costs 1999-2001

As businesses and corporations, it is paramount for us to get an understanding of the environmental dangers afoot and take measures to prevent the issue before it starts. Take a look at these figures:

Corrosion Damage Costs in Industry Categories:

Infrastructure – 16.4% – ($22.6 billion)

Government – 14.6% – ($20.1 billion)

Production and Manufacturing – 12.8% – ($17.6 billion)

Transportation – 21.5% – ($29.7 billion)

Annual Corrosion Damages in the Infrastructure Category:

HAZMAT Storage – 31% – ($7 billion)

Waterways and Ports – 1% – ($0.3 billion)

Gas and Liquid Transmission Pipelines – 31% – ($7 billion)

Highway Bridges – 37% – ($8.3 billion)

This means that if you work in the production and manufacturing industries, you are in an industry that is losing $17.6 billion dollars of corrosion damage per year. If you work in HAZMAT storage, you are losing $7 billion per year in corrosion damages.

That being said, any measures to protect your equipment, products, and buildings would be a wise one at this point.
